What our Recreational Therapy Interns are saying

“I can’t imagine having done my internship anywhere else. I was able to work hands on with clients in the community in ways that helped not only my professional growth but also my personal growth. The hands-on supervision that you get through BST shows how much this company cares about the success of their interns. This was an amazing learning experience that I would not trade for anything. I was able to put what I learned the past 4 years into action with the help of the team. Not only was this a great internship experience but the BST community is also one I will cherish forever. There was never a doubt that there would be someone there to help if I failed at something.”

— Heather Miller, 2021

“I was a Recreational Therapy Intern at Behavior Services & Therapy during summer of 2020. During that time, I was able to learn about the field of Recreational Therapy, and how it is used in a community-based setting. I learned how to write treatment plans, as well as preform sessions. I felt supported throughout the internship by a great group of recreational therapists and was able to shadow multiple therapists. The internship allowed me to realize that I wanted to help people with developmental disabilities as my career path. ”

— Madison Bonek, 2020

“My internship experience at BST was pivotal in my academic and career success. I was given the opportunity to work with a wide range of ages and disabilities, and I was able to work independently while also having the support of about 10 other RTs if I had any questions or concerns or needed ideas for lesson planning. My internship supervisor took the time to evaluate my work and provide constructive criticism and regularly meet with me one-on-one, and my ability to provide RT services after my internship was stronger for it. While I was preparing to take the certification exam at the end of my internship, I felt very supported and encouraged by the RTs here because it was obvious they genuinely wanted me to succeed. They would all provide helpful tips, notes, studying material, and words of encouragement. I would highly recommend anyone looking for an internship opportunity where they’ll get to learn and grow in a relaxed but professional environment to look into BST!”

— Azia Humphreys, 2019
